Finding A House

Well I found a house, twice.  That is right, not only did I find an apartment once in downtown Perth, but on Christmas EVE we got evicted.  So I had to find another place or I would be homeless.  Apparently the persons we were renting from had decided not to pay rent, so we had five days to find a new place to live and move all our stuff!  On top of that I was working crazy hours because it was Christmas time!

Luckily we found something great on Gumtree, something that was simply down the street and maybe even a better place.  This apartment has wifi, which is nice, and a really friendly roommate.  And for the first time in my life I am living inside the city, right downtown, or as they would say here in the CBD.

It is a pretty cool feeling living in the city.  When I walk around outside there are clubs, and shops, and of course lots of fun places to eat.  I can spend hours walking around in the hot sunshine wandering through the streets and finding new little places to eat or drink.  And all of it is right near my house!  There is even a little Burger Place at the bottom of my building which I am thinking of applying for.  It would be fun to live and work in the same building!  How easy would the commute be!!!!!

There have been lots of new experiences so far since I moved to Australia.  But I have to say one of the best ones is living in the city.  It makes me feel all grown up!  Making dinner, drinking wine, and watching the sun set from my balcony overlooking the city.  Pretty awesome place to live!  After all the hassle and difficulty trying to find a good place to live it all did work out in the end!  That's a good life lesson right there, all's well that end's well!

Wishing everyone the best from down under!

Welcome to Australia

Well the road trip ended, a couple months ago, and since then I have been quite busy!  Working on a Ranch for most of the summer allowed me to earn enough money to take a 24 four day cruise from Vancouver to Sydney!  And what an amazing experience that was!  If anyone is considering taking a cruise, do it!  It is tons of fun and you get the opportunity to meet lots of people of all ages and makes lots of new friends!  We made some friends who were much older than us, it was a Holland America cruise after all! But we also made some friends our age, who are now scattered around the country, perfect for traveling and visiting other cities!

From Sydney we were picked up by a friend we met in Scotland and were graciously hosted for a night.  And even better she drove us to the airport early the next morning.  We then flew across the country and made it all the way over to Perth.  The city which is surrounded by nothing on all sides!  But it is a very nice city, if you like the heat....And the flies.....Lots of flies.   Something I am definitely not used to yet!  But slowly I am getting more and more used to it!

Since the time we arrived I have found a job and am still looking for a house.  And I have made some little trips around the area, but nothing major yet.  I am saving my adventuring for a time when I have money.  Which is what I am obviously saving now!  Plans in the near future include, New Zealand, and Outback Adventure, and South East Asia.  And then of course a return trip at some point would be ideal!  But that will have to wait until the end of the winter here (summer in the northern hemisphere...another thing I definitely need to get used too!)

Well I will leave off today with a typical picture of a Koala, something everyone who ever goes to Australia sees and takes a picture of!  Enjoy:
